A post from Inside the Majors, but not on baseball. For those readers in B.C. who might be interested in a good cause. Spread the word.
Sports Skills Are Life Skills
By Bart Given
This isn’t a MLB post, but it’s about an important project I’ve been working on recently. Some of you may have noticed my sporadic posting the last couple of weeks (thanks to all the contributors for providing great content) – I’ve been busy helping out with a campaign for KidSport BC.
KidSport is a charity organization built around the belief all kids should have the opportunity to play organized sport regardless of their financial situation. In 2007, KidSport helped over 47,000 Canadian kids aged 6-18 participate in sport who wouldn’t have had the chance to play without the grants we provided. In total, KidSport funded children in 65 sports, including baseball.
Recently KidSport BC received the BCAB Humanitarian Award, part of the prize being approximately $3 Million worth of PSA placement on TV and radio in British Columbia. This one-time opportunity for exposure has led to a campaign titled “Sports Skills Are Life Skills” – which was created in conjunction with DDB Canada.
I wanted to share the PSA’s with you – thought some of you may like to know about the cause and many of you would enjoy the humorous spots.
If you’re a fan spread the word through your usual methods.
There’s a finite number of kids we are trying to help. We need to let these kids know we exist – and of course are looking for additional financial support so we can. TCB.
More baseball content very soon.
